We were the first in the area to offer the 3/4 day trip, and it has become our most popular trip. It is the perfect amount of time to work on technique, get into fish, and float many sections of river, and it saves you money vs. a full day. We can time your trip to fit your schedule, or you can leave it up to us to recommend the best time of the day to be out.
Half day shifts are usually morning or afternoon, and a good start time for 3/4 day trips in the summer is often around 10:00-10:30 to put you out during the midday hatch. It is usually best for complete beginners to do a wade trip before getting in the boat, but sometimes conditions are so good that never-evers can do well from the boat (call for recommendations). Call the shop for all the details on guide trips, and you can always purchase a gift certificate for a guide trip as a gift for someone special which they can redeem anytime within 1 year of purchase. Half day trips include drinks, 3/4 day trips also include a light lunch, and full day trips a full lunch. All trips also include use of rods and waders if needed, but not your fishing license, flies used, or gratuity for your hard working guide. You will get on the river quicker if you purchase a Colorado fishing license online before you get here (and you can keep your personal information private by doing it yourself). They will ship it to your address or you can just print the receipt if you will be fishing within a couple days of buying it.
"LIGHTNING ROUND SPECIALS" FOR EVENING FISHING TRIPS ARE BACK! Experienced anglers know how great the fishing can be in the last hours of the days when fish are looking up for big dry flies. Our "lightning round special" trips are roughly 3 hours, start around 5:30 PM and end at dark, and we offer them at special prices to make it easier to go out and enjoy some of the day's best fishing. Sure--there's almost always an afternoon hatch, but sometimes you just have to ditch your dinner plans and get out and fish--you can eat out any night!

UNLIKE SOME OTHERS THIS YEAR, WE'VE STILL NEVER RAISED OUR PRICES! For 2009, our prices are 10-25% less than most of the other outfitters in our valley, and 20-30% less than non-local guides from the Vail Valley who guide here. You can get a local room and a guide here for the same price, and spend more time on the river instead of on the road to and from Vail/Silverthorne.

OUR PHILOSOPHY: We enjoy a world of fishing that is down to earth and free from attitude. Fishing is not a competition, and attitude has no place in the world of guiding. Our guides realize that your trip is about you--not them. We are generous with our knowledge, and our main goal (along with helping people catch a bunch of fish) is to have fun!
Our staff of local and Carbondale fly fishing guides is experienced, friendly and professional. We offer float trips with both rafts and McKenzie drift boats, and have a full fleet of breathable waders, wading boots, and top rods to outfit you or your group. Many of our clients are experienced anglers who just need help with "where to go/ what to throw", or someone to row them down the river. But we also realize that for many inexperienced anglers, teaching is as much a part of guiding as putting people onto fish, and we will help you to become a more independent flyfisher.
We're happy to accommodate special requests, and strive to exceed your expectations and give you the best time possible. Most of our trips start from our Carbondale Fly Shop, but we can meet you at the river to maximize time, or we can arrange to pick you up if you lack transportation. You can also be assured that your guide knows exactly what is going on with our local rivers and hatches. You can keep track of what's going on by checking our River Report for the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, Colorado, and Crystal Rivers, which we update regularly.
Our guide roster for 2009 includes David Johnson, Wolf Scheiblberg, Brian Sweeterman, Ed Deison, Jake McKittrick, Rodi Quitiquit, Matt Russell, Glen Melus, Ryan Davis, Mal Burks, Clem Rinehart, Patrick Murray, Tom Hayes, and Merle Rodgers.
