We offer 1/2 (4 hr.), 3/4 (6 hr.) and Full day (8 hr.) guided trips--wade
or float. We're at 1087 Highway 133, Carbondale, Colorado. Phone: 970-963-5741.
GENERAL INFO ABOUT GUIDE TRIPS:
We were the first in the area to offer the 3/4 day trip, and it has become our most popular trip. It
is the perfect amount of time to work on technique, get into fish, and float many sections of river, and it saves you money
vs. a full day. We can time your trip to fit your schedule, or you can leave it up to us to recommend the
best time of the day to be out. It is always a good idea to book in advance whenever possible--especially for the June
through September busy season. But we can often accommodate you on short notice within a couple days or less of when
you want to go.
Half day shifts can go out anytime of day. A
good start time for 3/4 day trips is often around 9:00 to 10:00 to put you out during the midday hatch.
It is usually best for complete beginners to do a wade trip before getting in the boat, but sometimes conditions are so good
that never-evers can do well from the boat (call for recommendations). Call the shop for all the details on guide trips,
and you can always purchase a gift certificate for a guide trip as a gift for
someone special which they can redeem anytime within 1 year of purchase.
trips include drinks, 3/4 day and full day trips include lunch. Starting in 2016, we are now the only shop in
the valley that includes flies in the price of guide trips! All trips also include use of rods and waders
if needed, but not your fishing license or gratuity for your hard working guide. You will get on the river quicker if
you purchase a Colorado fishing license online before you get here (and you can keep your personal information private by doing it yourself). They
will ship it to your address or you can just print the receipt if you will be fishing within a couple days of buying it.
Our staff of Carbondale fly fishing guides is experienced, friendly and professional. We offer float trips with both rafts and McKenzie drift boats
depending on water levels. Many of our clients are experienced anglers who just need help with "where to go/ what
to throw", or someone to row them down the river. But we also realize that for many inexperienced anglers, teaching
is as much a part of guiding as putting people onto fish, and we will help you to become a more independent flyfisher.
Most of our trips start from our Carbondale Fly Shop, but we can meet you at the river to maximize time, or we can arrange to pick you up if you lack transportation.
You can also be assured that your guide knows exactly
what is going on with our local rivers and hatches. You can keep track of what's going on by checking
our River Report for the Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, Colorado, and Crystal Rivers, which we try to update regularly (we don't update as frequently during the colder months of the year, when
things don't change much).

PRIVATE WATER GUIDED
We realize it is a privilege to guide on public water, which is where
most of our guided trips are conducted. We also have access to some great local private properties for anglers who may
be seeking more seclusion during peak seasons. We're excited to have partnered up with the Crystal River Conservancy
owned by the Darriens near Marble, which offers almost 2 miles of wild river on the Crystal teeming with rainbows, browns,
and the occasional cutthroat or whitefish. Rod fees here are the most affordable we know of in Colorado, and it is a
beautiful place. Reservations to fish this property with or without a guide can be made in the shop, and you
can read more about the Crystal River Conservancy on our report page. We also do private water trips on
the Preserve property at the Redstone Inn on the Crystal, as well as Bar ZX ranch near Paonia Reservoir--which has
a lot of very large fish in stillwater lakes and ponds. All of these fabulous properties require reservations and rod
fees--call or stop in to find out more.
We specialize in helping you have fun on
the water, much more than telling you how great we are. There's a lot of wonderful people
who work for a lot of wonderful fly shops, but there's also too many people in the fly fishing business who take
themselves way too seriously any more, too often calling their shop or their guides "The
Best"--literally. Frankly, we're as tired of that kind of bull as you are, and we aren't going
to spend all our time spamming you with requests to like us on Facebook or shamelessly promoting ourselves
on Twitter. After all--most people go fishing to try to get away from all of that.
Our guides are very
good at what they do, but the last thing we're going to do is tell you that our guides or our shop
are "the best". After all, it's just fishing, and it's supposed to be fun. Over
the years, we have made a lot of great friends from a lot of great destinations, who are in
the fishing business or not--and in the end we're just a bunch of regular guys here to
have a good time with you. We take our jobs seriously--but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Outfitters
who talk about themselves using the phrase "the best" really do a disservice to all the wonderful people in this
industry. So, that said, we'll still be here to help and share a laugh whenever you want to stop by or
fish with us.
We enjoy a world of fishing that is down to earth and
free from attitude. Fishing is not a competition, and elitism has no place in the world of fishing. Our
guides realize that your trip is about you--not them. We are generous with our knowledge, and our main goal (along
with helping people catch a bunch of fish) is to have fun and to be real! FISHING
SHOULD BE INCLUSIVE, NOT EXCLUSIVE! This is why we have developed a following of locals--as well as visitors--
who shop and book trips here, and why our business has succeeded and grown for the past 10 years.
