Crystal River –
Flow: 147 cfs/Redstone, 101 cfs/Carbondale
Conditions: It took a while this summer for the river to come down but we’re there now! Hatches are consisting of terrestrials, caddis and PMDs. Lighter hatches of midges and BWOs can be encountered though are of less importance. The hopper and ant fishing in particular has been good . Fishing a small, weighted dropper fly below your hopper and through the deeper pools is always a great set-up too. Don’t overthink too hard; cover water and you’ll be handsomely rewarded. Afternoon showers can often muddy the river below Redstone. One of the very few rivers with opportunities for the elusive Colorado Super Slam – catching a whitefish, rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout all in a day! No one knows the Crystal River better than the guides at Crystal Fly Shop – let us show you our beautiful namesake river this summer. As always, feel free to give us a call for daily river conditions at 970.93.5741
