Colorado River –
Flow: 2,090 cfs/Glenwood Springs
Conditions: Currently muddy again but anticipated to clear. The switch to fall conditions is lingering in the air but we’re not there quite yet. The streamer bite has been pretty decent – nothing to write home about yet but it can have its moments. Favorite colors include white, yellow, purple and black. The hopper fishing is still hanging right in there despite it tapering off in the higher elevations. Again, we are getting some pretty epic eats here and there but nothing crazy. BWO’s seem to be the most reliable subsurface imitations right now fished below a variety of attractor nymphs like San Juan Worms, Rubberleg Stones and PMDs. This is a quality not quantity fishery – and the fish are well worth grinding for. Overall the fishing has vastly improved of late and noticeably improving weekly. These are the times when having a good, local fishing guide really pays off.
